What should I post on Threads as a Business Owner?

Threads: the new kid on the block

Launched by Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, Threads is a direct rival to Twitter. The idea behind the app is to help you build stronger relationships with your Instagram followers.

How to Set up Threads:

Threads is linked to your Instagram account and it is really straightforward to set up:

  • Download the free Threads app on your mobile.
  • Make sure you are logged into your BUSINESS account on Instagram.
  • Sign into Threads using your Instagram log in. This should sync with your business Instagram account.
  • Import your profile (check your details) and ensure you have it set to public.
  • If you want, you can follow the same accounts that you’re following on Instagram.

And voila, you're ready to go!

What should I post on Threads?

You have the option of posting text, images, videos, links and gifs. However, the focus seems to be primarily on text-based content.

I love the simplicity of the app. You don’t need to worry about 'Instagram-worthy' visuals, the perfect grid arrangement or if you are using the right hashtags. You simply write what you are thinking and hit ‘post’.

Here are some ideas:

  • Introduce yourself and say hi!
  • Join in conversations and give your perspective
  • Repost or quote a funny thread or meme you've come across
  • Share a tip your followers will find helpful
  • Ask a question to start the conversation flowing

From what I’ve seen the app is more conversation and connection based rather than salesy which is very refreshing.
